A brief introduction to the July and August posts. Because this progam posts newest events first, you will actually be looking at our vacation in reverse order of how it happened (Aug 11-18) unless you skip down to the Storyland pictures and work your way back up to the top.
We are all doing well here and the kids are growing up so fast. Libby is very excited to start school in a couple of weeks. (Actually Sarah is very excited to start school too. I don't think she gets that she isn't going this year... I might have to find a place to call "school" and take her to so she thinks she is going. lol)
We are now starting to prepare for the arrival of "little brother" in September. And we are looking forward to Nana and Dadda's visit in October too! I'll post details of these big events as they happen!

Visiting Swanzey
Our next (last) stop was a Mimi and Bebop's house for supper along the way back home. "Uncle" Kevin was visiting from New Mexico and we were able to see him for the first time in a very long time which was a nice surprise! He even let the kids sit on his motorcycle!
Scott and Cynthia's
On the way back East, we stopped by at Scott and Cynthia's house for a visit. We cheered Isabella on in her first road race Tuesday night. Then the girls enjoyed some time in the nearby bouncy house. The next morning, we went to the playground and had a grand time! That was followed up by a tea party lunch and a swim in the pool.
Ian and I have the benefit of being amused by listening to the conversations in the back seat these days. On the way here, Sarah was making some strange noises with her mouth and then cracking up laughing. Libby started yelling at her "NO Sarah, No. That is NOT funny!" Sarah responded "Is too funny, ha ha ha" Libby: "Is NOT funny" and back and forth for a good while. We just sat up front and giggled quietly. It is fun to see them interact more and more with each other.

Adirondacks
The next part of our family vacation this summer was to visit our neighbors at their summer camp in the Adirondacks (upstate NY). It was a very special place and all of us had a wonderful few days! (Thank you Bob and Annette for sharing your weekend and your camp with us!) The ride up was supposed to take us 6 hours....it took us 9....And, we do not have very good car-sleepers. During that 9 hours, Sarah slept for about 40 minutes and Libby didn't sleep at all. The pictures posted in reverse order though, so as you can see, a few days of running around and swimming made for some good naps on the way home from the Adirondacks. 8-) I should also mention that Dory, our dog was in heaven. This place is a dog's dream vacation!

After a morning of swimming in cold water, the girls were ready for a rest, a snack and a warm-up period.
Libby is getting pretty good at hitting a ball with a bat.
Sarah likes to try it too. (Sarah likes to try ANYTHING that her big sister is doing or has done.)
Libby LOVED picking huckleberries. She would graze her way to and from the beach area everytime we went that way.
Dory's friend, Chester, spends most of the summer here and together they were watching their people canoe past the dock. Our sentries on guard..... Chester loves jumping off the dock. Dory would not jump off the dock....until Ian and Bob started to paddle away with her girls. Then, she jumped right in and started to swim behind the canoe.
Libby and Sarah's first canoe trip! It was one of the high points of their trip. They really enjoyed it.
Libby found a plant hangar hook and was transformed into Captain Hook. The two of them switched off playing Peter Pan and Captain Hook for the rest of the weekend. It made for some great sword fights (with pool noodles).

Storyland
At the beginning of Ian's vacation from work, we went up to Storyland with Kristin, Brian and Kaelyn. We started our visit one afternoon, spent the night in a hotel and then went back to Storyland the next day until the girls (and the parents) were all ready to crash. The girls LOVED this place. I think we will have to make it a point to go back next summer! (The night in between was the girls' first stay in a hotel. It was interesting. Sarah was wired and would NOT stop talking until I shut off all the lights and Ian and I had to hide in the bathroom. Even with the lights out if I was still in the room it was a constant barrage of "Whacha doing Mommy? Good night Mommy! Mommy, whacha doing? .......") Today we were in the car and Libby turned to Sarah and called her a chatterbox! I had to giggle. Sarah got very upset and was near tears. "I not chatterbox, I just Sarah". I think I have to take Libby's side on this one. These days Sarah is a steady stream of talking during EVERY hour she is awake.

Libby was VERY excited to get her face painted as a rock princess. (This is a big step for her as she used to not even let a stranger stamp her hand).
Kaelyn's favorite ride was the carousel.
Libby was very excited to ride in a pumpkin coach up to Cinderella's castle and then get to meet the princess in person. She even got a hug!
Libby spent a good part of one day dressed up as the indian princess Tiger Lily from Peter Pan. Some boys on the swan boats even complimented her on her "costume".

Sarah loves to help in the kitchen! (Actually, both girls do....but with cousin Isabella staying over, Libby had more important play-related things to keep her occupied on this morning!)

Sarah had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday with her cousins and playgroup friends! She went around telling everyone "I two on my birthday!".

Sarah's actual 2nd birthday
Sarah has been SO excited about her birthday! She would pause between every bite of cake to say "Happy Birthday Sarah!". Then she found out that she was getting a "big girl bed". She has been green with envy at the fact that Libby got a big bed for her birthday in February....so, now Sarah has one too (a toddler bed anyway). (It has been a long 3 weeks of Sarah sleeping on the floor...or of waiting until Libby fell asleep so she could crawl up into Libby's bed with her. She absolutely refused to sleep in her crib any longer). I should also mention that Libby and Sarah made the cake and Libby decorated it while Sarah napped... They were very excited about this as well.
Auntie Kris' visit
On Auntie Kris' last day with us, we went swimming at the town beach, had a picnic lunch and then went to the farm for ice cream! Yum! It was a fun day for all!

Strawberry Jam
Lately, I've really been enjoying homemade strawberry jam on ice cream. But, when I used up the last of our jam reserve the other day, it was time for a "Murphy girl adventure"! This morning the girls and I went strawberry picking and this afternoon Libby and I made jam! YUM! I think 9 pints should get us through the last 3 months of this pregnancy with enough left over for Dadda's visit in the fall! 8-)
